Capital Trail Closed Between Rocketts Landing and Great Shiplock Park in RICHMOND (mm 51)
The Richmond section of the Capital Trail east of Great Shiplock Park, near The Kickstand and Dock St. Park - MM 51, is closed. The flooding is gone but the surface is covered in mud and ice.
The Trail section beneath I-295, west of the Four Mile Creek Trailhead (near MM 41), has standing water and mud. Other areas may also have water, mud, or debris. Please proceed with caution!
Watch Out for Icy Bridges & Slick Spots
Please keep an eye out for icy bridges and slick spots along the Trail. Even on a sunny day, shaded areas can have patches of ice. Let's make sure our adventures are safe and fun so we can enjoy even more time on the Capital Trail!
VDOT Replacing Truncated DOmes in Henrico County
VDOT is working on replacing the truncated domes on the Trail throughout Henrico County. Work will continue into 2025. Please use caution when passing VDOT workers.

The construction of Charles City's Market 5, located at MM 20, is still underway.

Lighting Installation Planned for December near mm 51 (Rocketts Landing)
Beginning in 2025, self-sustaining lighting will be installed along the Capital Trail throughout the Rocketts Landing area (between MM 50 - MM 51) for increased pedestrian safety. This installation may include workers and equipment on or near the Trail. Please use caution when proceeding through the area.
bridge deck work scheduled for early 2025
The bridge deck just west of MM 3 is scheduled to get an epoxy overlay. The estimated timeframe is Jan/Feb 2025.
